The Chima armchair is inspired by the deep connection between chimarrão (mate tea) and gaúcha (Southern Brazilian) culture. In Rio Grande do Sul, inviting someone to share chimarrão is a gesture of hospitality, a moment of conversation and welcome, an essence that inspired the creation of this armchair. Its forms echo the silhouette of the cuia (the traditional gourd used for chimarrão), with elegant, precise curves that enhance any environment and provide both visual and physical comfort. The arms, delicately connected to the base, envelop the seat and support the backrest, creating a layered detail on the back. Balanced and cozy, the Chima armchair is versatile, adapting to different spaces while bringing sophistication and warmth.
Wilian Bertuol was born in Guaporé-RS, 31 years old and is a product designer for the Duoma brand, signing several pieces in the portfolio. His career in furniture and object design led him to receive prestigious awards, such as the iF Design Award 2024 and the “Best in Show” at Abimad 35.
